The Saudi Arabian Standards Organization SASO recently issued a notice requiring all certification bodies that have obtained the qualification of "Technical Specification for Imported Used Vehicles" to strictly conduct safety compliance reviews in accordance with SASO 2946 standard when inspecting imported used passenger cars produced in 2023 and after. The focus is on checking key items such as emergency exit configuration, seat design, and safety signs of vehicles to ensure passenger safety and improve road transportation reliability.

SASO emphasized that this strengthened inspection is aimed at responding to Saudi Arabia's strategic goal of improving traffic safety level in the "2030 Vision", by strictly controlling the quality of imported second-hand buses and reducing public safety accidents caused by vehicle defects. Importers need to coordinate with certification agencies in advance to ensure that vehicles pass inspection and avoid customs clearance delays.
